Xin “Zinc” Tong, 2024

Xin “Zinc” Tong 童心 (they/them) is a Chinese born director, performer, scenographer, and teaching artist based in NYC. An evolutionist, Zinc centers their work on immigrant justice and queer liberation that are political and personal, audacious and sensitive. They practice their value in storytelling through creating a space that values collective ownership, equity and representation of truth in the process. Zinc specializes in telling stories from a multi-sensorial perspective, including scenery and sound, immersive experience, as well as meta theater devising.

They held a BA in Psychology from UC San Diego and will receive their MFA in Contemporary Theater and Performance from The New School this spring. Zinc is currently a resident director at Neurodivergent New Play Festival, a member of Gung Ho Project, teaching artist at Raising Health Partners, and Performance Project fellow. They have had the pleasure of directing and performing with Liberation Theatre Company, Target Margin Theater, Piccoine Arts, Yangtze Repertory Theatre, The Tank, Rattlestick Theater, Wild Project, Lime Arts Production, La Jolla Playhouse and many amazing humans.
