Artist in Residence (2012-2013)
RoseAnne Spradlin, the 2017-2019 Randjelovic/Stryker Resident Commissioned Artist at New York Live Arts, is an award-winning, New York City-based experimental artist whose choreographic works explore the body and its consciousness. “X” unspools its scenes of discipline, threat and ritual in a raw terrain, open to the audience’s projections.
Spradlin was a 2014 winner of the United States Artist Ford Fellowship in Dance. Her work has been supported by the Jerome Foundation, Lambent Foundation and by Fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts. Other honors include a BESSIE award for Choreography in 2002 and a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2008. She received the Artist Award from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, three MAP Fund Grants and nine years of funding from the New York State Council on the Arts. Spradlin headed Studio 65 in downtown Manhattan from 1990-2011 and was a partner in SQUID Performance Space from 1995 – 2005. She has shown her work in London and Vienna, at the American Dance Festival and in many of New York’s downtown venues.
