Regine Pieters was born and raised on a small island in the Caribbean called Curaçao, one of the six islands that form a part of the Dutch Kingdom. Regine completed her undergraduate studies at Belhaven University, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. Regine has performed works by Elizabeth Dishman, Vincent Hardy, Marc Wayne, and Sung Yong Kim, and Faizah Grootens. She performed twice at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington DC for the American College Dance Association’s national festival. She also grew a passion for Contact Improvisation in college, and was fortunate to personally work with Nancy Stark Smith. After being exposed to composition and choreography, Regine felt called to pursue choreography in her professional career. Her work Djis Mi Mes was performed in the Gala Concert at Northwestern State University. Later she found deep joy and comfort in organizing logistical performance elements giving directors and artists infinite space to focus on their art and to therefore fully thrive. Regine has developed most of her administrative and management skills at Gibney Dance Center and Dishman + Co. Choreography and is excited to continue growing in these areas of expertise. At BAX she works closely with the Executive Director and Senior Director of Finance & Administration as a Development Associate helping execute and coordinate new fundraising strategies. With her unparalleled appreciation for performing and visual arts, she aspires to provide leverage within the structure of arts organizations to continue creating opportunities for artists.
