Joy Havens

Joy Havens is a co-founder of In Liberated Company (ILC), a dance-based initiative to build community and support healing for ex-evangelicals and other ex-fundamentalists recovering from abuse in religious and spiritual contexts. ILC was developed with a Moving Towards Justice fellowship through Gibney Dance 2020-2021. In January 2022, Joy begins training in Tamalpa Life/Art Process as an ArtCorp member through the Tamalpa Institute co-founded by Daria and Anna Halprin. She has worked in the fields of dance and opera as a performer, costumer, and educator with the following: Renegade Performance Group, Mark Morris (Orfeo ed Euridice, PBS Great Performances at the Met), Bard SummerScape, Mary Prescott, Miro Dance Theatre, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Preeti Vasudevan, Pappas and Dancers, and the New York Baroque Dance Company among others. She attended The Ohio State University receiving the Special Projects Fund for Exceptional Creativity and has been supported with a residency through Indy Convergence.
