Miriam Parker, Emerge 2025 Flagship

Miriam (she/her), named after the poet Kenneth Patchen’s wife, grew up in the East Village of New York City, immersed in an artistic household. Influenced by the avant-garde and free jazz community, her creative philosophy centers on the belief that creativity encompasses a spiritual socio-political responsibility. This foundation drives her to foster safe spaces for artistic expression.

Miriam Parker is an artist whose practice includes video work, performance, and sonic elements, all viewed through a choreographic lens. She collaborates across various mediums, exploring the interplay of time, color, sound, and movement while promoting egalitarian creative environments. With over 20 years of experience studying Buddhism, she integrates principles of interdependence and emptiness into her artistic endeavors.

Miriam’s work seeks to redefine individuality and explore new modes of freedom through multiple narratives. She considers her projects as living organisms, striving to animate static spaces and create immersive environments that embody ethical behaviors. By questioning how we depict freedom and crafting liminal spaces, Miriam reimagines artistic possibilities, continuously redefining how ideas are experienced, lived, and organized within her creative practice.
