Kami Zimmer (she/they) is a theater maker, movement artist, and puppeteer who holds a strong belief in the healing power of storytelling. With a BA in Politics and Theater from The New School, Kami is interested in how the tools of drama can be utilized to build a world where everyone’s needs are fulfilled. Their classroom culture prioritizes goofiness, playful exploration, safety, and care as to allow for maximum amounts of creativity to flourish. With an emphasis on structure, she promotes expression within set boundaries to encourage collaboration and leave room for difference.

Kami’s work as a birth doula has shown them the beauty in bearing witness as humans transform. Taking this perspective into her teaching work, she feels honored to witness the students at BAX as they giggle, wiggle, write, and dance their way into their most creative selves.
