BAX | Brooklyn Arts Exchange

We welcomed new and returning BAX teachers and families into the BAX Building for our annual Fall Open House, celebrating BAX’s milestone birthday with movement activities, student performances, community tributes, and free sample classes.

Behind the scenes, we also gathered with our artist educators for fruitful planning meetings to review BAX’s teaching and learning core values, program continuum, and goals for the year.

After 25 years of monthly dinner meetings, taking turns cooking for each other in our homes and mounting a show each year, here at BAX, as well as some showing elsewhere along the way, we remain glad to see each other. Artists as Workers. Workers as Artists.

We always look forward to the morning when we all show up at BAX and get to see what everybody has been up to. This year, unlike the last two, we were able to hang a real live show that will be up and viewable in person until the end of June.

The title of this year’s show is RECIPE: OPTIONAL, inspired by BAX’s recipe book and our anarchic nature. This year, once again, we invite you to see our work virtually. We hope you enjoy our work and look forward to hanging it on BAX’s sheetrock walls in the future.
