Emily Reyes
EmergeNYC Flagship (2025)
Emily Reyes (she/her) is a performance artist, model, dancer, fashion stylist, and social media marketer. She uses social media platforms, art shows, community events, fashion jobs, and healing spaces to spread light onto the intersectionalities of her identity, and others, by challenging our culture, ancestral magic/trauma, everyday experiences as someone with Hispanic-Caribbean/Italian American heritage who grew up in New Jersey and NYC.
She believes in the power of using siren energy to operate as a spiritual host for new ideas around our existence outside the capitalist norm. She uses beauty, movement, and set design/direction to capture an audience before dropping remembrance on historical, colonial-related ancestral trauma.
In 2024, she was featured in four films, where in most of them, she takes on a strong, water-related goddess. This has further inspired her art by realizing she has a deeper connection to the element of water.
In 2025, she is pushing forward her recent project, Bori Baddie 2025 Calendar, where she is featured modeling different looks each month that reference the spirit and cultural identities that stem from Puerto Rico, while located in historically Nuyorican neighborhoods like Bushwick and Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The visuals are paired with historical information about the Nuyorican/Diasporican/Puerto Rican experience. She also was recently in Puerto Rico, where she did a photoshoot/short film about her connection to water deities and the implications of tourism on the island.
