Disabled Artist Space Grant

Entering its 4th year, the Disabled Artist Space Grant and Residency offers time and support for disabled dance, theater, and performance artists. The grants provide a minimum of 100 hours of space to up to 3-4 disabled artists per year, alongside an honorarium, travel stipend, cohort experience, advising, and a shared-bill performance opportunity for those who are interested.

Advocated for by disabled artist Perel, this program was originally offered in partnership with Cora Dance, with additional support from Londs Reuter and funding from NYC Department of Cultural Affairs’ CreateNYC Disability Forward Fund. The program was further developed by the inaugural artists, Anna Gichan, Naja Gordon and Kayla Hamilton, Jacob Slominski alongside Londs Reuter, and Lucia Scheckner. This program continues to evolve and grow and in FY21 became a cornerstone of a larger Disability Artistry Initiative.
