Antonio Ramos
Artist in Residence (2018-2020)

Antonio Ramos was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where he trained in jazz, salsa, and African dance. He later received a B.F.A. in Dance from SUNY Purchase. Antonio began his career performing with Ballet Theatre of Puerto Rico, Ballet Hispanico of New York, Ballet Concierto and Ballet Municipal (PR).
His choreography has been produced throughout at SUNY Purchase, Princeton University, Fringe Festival 2000 at Theatre La Chappelle, The Painted Bride, Cornell University and throughout New York City’s five boroughs. Recently, he presented work at the Rubin Museum of Art as part of Pentacle’s Dance Series as well as at the High Line’s Out Of Line performance event. In the summer of 2019, Antonio was a participating member of Gibney’s 2019 Moving Through Justice Cohort as well as a recipient of funding from the Brooklyn Arts Council in support of his latest work in progress El Pueblo de los Olvidados, premiering this Fall at The Chocolate Factory.
Antonio is also a Licensed Massage Therapist, Zero Balancing, and Watsu Practitioner and a certified instructor-practitioner in The Feldenkrais Method, which he had the pleasure of teaching at the Bates Dance Festival. Antonio is thrilled to return as a second-year Artist in Residence at Brooklyn Arts Exchange.
