Anna Gichan
Disabled Artist Space Grant (2018/2019)

Anna dances a lot- handstands in her bedroom, floorwork in museums, and contact improvisation with lovers, friends, the cat and odd shaped walls.

The story goes that when she was first learning how to crawl she crawled backwards instead of forwards. Anna’s mom, concerned by this unusual direction of movement, enrolled Anna in gymnastics and ballet. Anna has since studied at Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts and Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Her professional freelance dance career has brought her to work in Greece, New York, NJ, Philadelphia, Massachusetts, Washington DC, and California.
