Alexis Aceves Garcia
EmergeNYC Flagship (2025)
Alexis Aceves Garcia (they/them) is in a practice of dreaming against the colonial imaginary and makes it tangible in the work they do as a poet, visual artist, and facilitator. You can find their poems featured on The Hopkins Review, Poets.org’s “Poem-A-Day” series, The Slowdown, beestung, Peach Mag, The Best of the Net Anthology 2022, Apogee Journal, and The BreakBeat Poets Volume 4: LatiNext, among others. Aceves Garcia has received fellowships from The Outpost Foundation, Jack Jones Literary Arts, Catapult, and the Tin House Summer Workshop. Their latest obsessions include letterpress and risograph printing, escaping linear time, and creating space to imagine a more liberated future during the collapse of the American empire.
