The Space Grant Program is designed to give Brooklyn based choreographers, playwrights, and multi-disciplinary
artists the opportunity to create new work in a setting that is conducive to working deeply and exploring new territory.
Awards are 70 hours of free space in one of BAX's four spaces. Hours are to be used in one of two grant periods. One grant
period is a work period only and the other includes a showcase performance. Applicants may decide which grant period is most
appropriate for their needs before applying. Applications are generally available in early spring and are awarded for the
summer or for the fall. Awards are selected through a panel process. We actively seek artists who can demonstrate need for
our space and the ability to work effectively. Artists who have received previous space grants must wait three years
before reapplying. Applicants must be Brooklyn Residents. 2009-10 Space Grant Recipients2009/10 SPACE GRANTS have been awarded in two groups this year. Group One will take the work they are developing here and perform it elsewhere. Group Two will perform their work as part of BAX's 2009/10 Performance Season.
