She teaches playwriting to children and is in the 13th year of a memoir writing workshop with retirees at Morningside Gardens (through Elders Share the Arts). RE-EDUCATION OF THE BODY
A Klein-Mahler Technique Workshop
Taught by Barbara Mahler
Tuesdays, May 6 – June 10, 7pm-9pm
Tuition: $100 for six weeks | $20 per drop-in

Designed to support all styles of dance technique and improvisation, this workshop re-educates the body with an interweaving of theory and practice. Working at the level of the bone, not the traditional level of the muscles, we become connected, powerful, strong, efficient and alive. The result is sureness of movement and a new level of understanding of the innate intelligence of the body. Dancers will be treated, respected and seen as individuals, encouraged to bring their own identities and integrity into their movement. The class is open to all levels, dancers and non-dancers alike.

Barbara Mahler, a widely respected dance teacher and choreographer, has taught daily classes for 27 years plus. Barbara was a Movement Research artist in residence for the 2000-01 and 2006-07 seasons, is an adjunct faculty at Hunter College, serves on the artist advisory board of BAX, and recently completed an MFA at University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
